So my
friends, I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experience was in Eastern
Oregon. Your kindness and hospitality to a travelling stranger was exceptional.
I will never forget our work together to help awaken the forces of change
in Eastern Oregon. And I hope you will agree with me when I say that Sunday
May 18, 2008 will remain etched in my mind forever.
The
amazing turnout of independents and republicans, as well as democrats, for
Barack's visit to Pendleton reminds us that the work of the general election
will also require reaching out to non-democrats, especially in places like
Eastern Oregon. Although I will not be with you in person, I applaud
your efforts to continue our work. Don't let the energy fade. Assume your
full role as leaders of this movement in Eastern Oregon. Perhaps you will
decide to reinvigorate the Democratic Party in the County as your vehicle.
If so, bravo, but remember how important it will be to bring all parts of
the party together and to reach out to those who may not feel comfortable
being considered Democrats, but who want very much to be apart of our movement
for change.
